Each year MSO holds one large fundraiser, the Annual Gala Auction, to raise funds for the school. This year is our 22nd and is the event you don’t want to miss. The funds raised during this event are critical to a healthy, functional, nurturing school for our children. Not only does it raise necessary funds for the school, the gala is an opportunity for our parents, alumni, supporters, and friends to gather and celebrate the Montessori School of Oakton community.
The MSO PTA takes pride in holding this event and presenting the funds to our school. We work extra hard to make it happen but we love it. It’s worth all the effort. Through the process of putting together this annual event, we give our parents a chance to show the kids how to come together and learn from each other while making a major project happen. Trust us, the kids are watching! We do it for the school. It’s the spirit of our school that encourages us. MSO parents are willing to go the extra mile because they know the results do miraculous things for our children.
What kind of miraculous things happen? How about and annual opera where every child from Primary II though 6th grade sings on stage? Not only do they sing on stage, the kids raise their confidence and their self-esteem while they learn to appreciate the arts through doing! Our kids create the sets, work on costumes, and learn by cooperating with others to create an incredible show from start to curtain fall. It’s an amazing experience and one rarely afforded to children except through schools like MSO willing to go the extra mile to make it happen. Past galas have also provided critical funds to families in need through tuition assistance so they can give their children a Montessori education. Gala funds have also been used for outdoor improvements that give us unique outside spaces to work and play.
The gala this year includes a silent and live auction with cocktails, dinner, music, games, and a lively party atmosphere. All MSO supporters, alumni, friends, parents, teachers, and staff are invited to attend and bring friends. This is one event you don’t want to miss!
Highlights of the evening include…
Silent items will be displayed from 6:00 pm until about 8:30pm. During the Silent Auction, guests can find individual items like weekend adventures, dinners, theatre tickets, sports tickets, and themed baskets galore!
The Live Auction occurs after dinner and is the most exciting and lively part of the evening! It’s during this segment that our emcee auctions our big ticket and very desirable items, like trips, one of a kind experiences, and the ever popular Class Projects.
Every year we have games at the auction, which provide some of the evening’s most enjoyable moments. We raise money while having a blast.
The Grand Raffle
Tickets will be sold during the months of January, February and March leading up to the Gala. Every family sells tickets and the kids particularly are pumped to do this so put them to work! See the Grand Raffle webpage for more information.
